SHA Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs):

 

Q.  What is the “South Hills Advantage” (SHA)?

A.  It is an exclusive value/benefit program intended to distinguish South Hills Honda from ALL other dealerships by rewarding its customers for their loyalty. 

 

Q.  What vehicles are eligible for the “South Hills Advantage” (SHA)?

A.  Most new Hondas and specific used vehicles purchased at South Hills Honda after January 1, 2008.  Not all benefits apply to each and every new or used vehicle.  Please see your sales consultant for specifics. 

 

Q.  Is there an enrollment cost or fees for the “South Hills Advantage” (SHA)?

A.  Not specifically for the SHA, only for various repairs and or maintenances performed.

 

Q.  What about deductibles?

A.  There are no deductibles required.

 

Q.  What happens if the dealership is no longer in business?

A.  The “South Hills Advantage” (SHA) and all its benefits shall become null and void. 

 

Q. What is my responsibility to ensure I receive all the SHA benefits?

A. Have all your Honda factory recommended services (based on severe operating conditions) performed by our South Hills Honda service department and have us stamp your maintenance book to validate the service.

 

Q.  Can any portion of the South Hills Advantage (SHA) be transferred?

A.  No, I am sorry.  All benefits are only available to the original owner for as long as they own the vehicle. 


Q.  Why severe operating conditions?  Isn’t that excessive?

A.  Honda’s regular maintenance schedule was developed for ideal weather conditions. Pittsburgh’s seasonal weather patterns require that one follow a severe maintenance schedule to adequately protect your vehicle.  This determination is the same for virtually every automobile manufacturer. 

 

Q.  How long does the “South Hills Advantage” (SHA) last?

A.  As long as you have all your factory recommended services (based on severe operating conditions) done at South Hills Honda, the applicable lifetime benefits are available for as long as you own your vehicle (regardless of age or mileage.)   

 

Q.  Will it cost anymore to have my vehicle serviced at the dealership?

A.  No.  You pay our regular rates, which are very competitive with other dealerships and independent repair shops.  Also computerized service records will raise resale value.

 

Q.  Can I maintain my own vehicle or have it serviced elsewhere as long as I document the work and retain receipts?

A.  Unfortunately the SHA is only available to customers who have their work performed at South Hills Honda.  Without doing the work ourselves it becomes impossible to offer a guarantee.

 

Q.  What if I’m out of the area or on vacation and my vehicle requires a maintenance service?

A.  In cases of extreme emergency, we will give a tolerance of 15 days or 500 miles. No exceptions.    

 

Q.  Does the SHA provide for any alternative transportation during repairs?

A.  Unfortunately, it does not.  However, an extended service contract would entitle you to rental car reimbursement. 

 

Q.  What is free “Tires for Life” and what does it cover?

A.  For having all your Honda factory recommended services (based on severe operating conditions) performed by South Hills Honda, we will replace your tires for wear at no charge (parts and labor) for as long as you own your NEW HONDA vehicle.  All you pay for are the taxes and applicable environmental/disposal charges.  This benefit excludes certain vehicles so please see your sales consultant for details.  Also, it does not cover tires that need replacement due to damage.

 

Q.  Does the recommended maintenance include an alignment, even though it may not clearly stated in Honda’s guide?

A.  Yes.  You must have your vehicle aligned every 12 months or 15,000 miles, whichever occurs first.  This is normal and customary tire maintenance that will usually improve vehicle drivability and fuel economy.

 

Q.  Will my tires be replaced with the same brand?

A.  Not necessarily.  They may or may not be replaced with the same brand, but will be replaced with tires of comparable specifications.

 

Q. What vehicles are eligible for the free PA State Inspections for Life”?

A. Any new or used vehicle purchased from South Hill Honda.

 

Q. Does the free “PA State Inspections for Life” include emissions?

A. No, I’m sorry.

 

Q. What family members are eligible for the free PA State Inspections for Life?

A. Immediate family members only (i.e. children, and siblings living at your address, mother, mother in law, father, father in law, grandparents and grandparents in law.)

 

Q. If I no longer own my vehicle, are my family members still eligible for free PA State Inspections?

A. No, I’m sorry.

 

Q.  How do my family members receive their free PA State Inspections?

A.  It’s very easy.  Please have them present a copy of YOUR current vehicle registration at the time of service.  You must still own the vehicle for them to receive this benefit.

 

Q. What’s this about a free annual oil and filter change if I live out of state?

A. Yes it’s true.  Simply come in around your purchase anniversary and we will change your oil and filter for free for as long as you own your vehicle. 

 

Q.  What is Security Guard ETCH Protection?

A.  It is a permanent, traceable number that is etched on your car windows and or body panels as a way of discouraging auto theft.  It also provides a means to assist in its recovery should it be stolen.  Should the vehicle not be recovered, it provides a reimbursement amount up to a maximum of $5,000.  This SHA benefit is available at no charge to our lease customers and may also be purchased by our non-lease customers for a nominal fee.      

 

Q. Is there a charge for your Courtesy Shuttle service?

A. No.  The service is free and we will gladly take you anywhere within a 5 mile radius of the dealership.

 

Q.  What exactly is the Service Contract Money Back Guarantee?

A.  It is a 100% money back guarantee (refund) if you never use ANY portion of the service contract (new or used car.)  The only condition is that the contract must go full term (time or mileage) and it must have been for a minimum period of 60 months.

 

Q.  How do I get my Service Contract refund?

A.  If you have never made a claim of any sort (e.g. component coverage, rental vehicle, incidental reimbursement, etc.,) it has gone full term, your vehicle is operational and you still own the vehicle, simply bring a copy of your contract, current registration and driver’s license to our finance department and they will take care of the rest.  It will take approximately two weeks to receive your reimbursement check.   

 

Q.  What is the “Price Protection Guarantee”?

A.  It states that if you find the same new Honda at another dealership, we will match their price on an in-stock unit AND include the SHA at no extra charge.  It also states that if you purchase a vehicle from South Hills Honda and find it for less within 5 days, we will pay you the difference or buy your vehicle back (at our discretion.)


Q.  What is the “3 Day / 300 Mile Exchange Policy?”

A.  For select pre-owned vehicles, South Hills Honda offers a 3-Day (calendar days) or 300 Mile Exchange Policy (for any reason), whichever occurs first.  Select vehicles are normally defined as, but not limited to, those 7 years old or newer and or having less than 100,000 miles.
